چکیده

We define a concept of status equilibrium for local public good economies. A status equilibrium specifies one status index for each agent in an economy. These indices determine agents’ cost shares in any possible jurisdiction. We provide an axiomatic characterization of status equilibrium using consistency properties. ∗We thank James Foster, John Conley, Rick Bond, and participants of PET05 for helpful comments and suggestions. Share Equilibrium in Local Public Good Economies

We define a concept of share equilibrium for local public good (or club) economies where individual members of the population may have preferences over the membership of their jurisdiction. A share equilibrium specifies one share index for each individual. These indices determine each individual’s cost shares in any jurisdiction that he might join. We demonstrate that the same axioms as those t...

Existence of share equilibrium in symmetric local public good economies

Share equilibrium was introduced in van den Nouweland and Wooders (2011) as an extension of ratio equilibrium to local public good economies. In that paper, we took an axiomatic approach to motivate share equilibrium. In the current paper we consider questions related to the existence of share equilibrium and we derive a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of share equilibrium ...

Lindahl and Equilibrium

This paper demonstrates that there is a discrepancy between the ideas expressed in Lindahl (1919) and the current-day definition of Lindahl equilibrium. It describes how the ideas expressed by Lindahl (1919) developed into the equilibrium concept for public good economies that now carries Lindahl’s name. The paper also touches on a seemingly forgotten equilibrium concept for public good economi...

Misrepresentation of Utilities in Bargaining: Pure Exchange and Public Good Economies

In order to analyze bargaining in pure exchange and public good economies when the agents are not informed about their opponents’ payoffs, we embed each bargaining problem into a noncooperative game of misrepresentation. In pure exchange (public good) economies with an arbitrary number of agents whose true utilities satisfy a mild assumption, the set of allocations obtained at the linear-strate...

Coliforms Contamination and Hygienic Status of Milk Chain in Emerging Economies

Emerging economies have often poor hygiene practices in traditional milk and dairy production all over the world. Therefore, pathogenic bacteria in milk pose major public health concerns especially for those communities who still consume raw milk. Escherichia coli and coliforms are often used as indicator microorganisms, so their presence in food implies poor hygiene and sanitary practices. The...
